Prepare your travel eSIM without pressure, then switch the mobile-data line after arrival.

Before your trip

Prepare on Wi-Fi and take your time.

  1. 01Add the eSIM with the QR code or manual details.
  2. 02Give it a clear name such as “Japan trip”.
  3. 03Keep your primary SIM in the device.
  4. 04Do not use the travel eSIM for mobile data unnecessarily yet.

At your destination

Now switch the data connection.

  1. 01Switch on the travel eSIM.
  2. 02Select it as the mobile-data line.
  3. 03Enable data roaming for the travel eSIM when stated by the plan.
  4. 04Use automatic network selection.
  5. 05Toggle airplane mode briefly and test the connection.

Important: validity starts according to the plan. Some packages start on installation, others on the first network connection. The binding rule is shown on the plan and order page.

Use the QR code safely

The QR code is your personal installation key. Never share it publicly.

If the code is on the same phone, open it on another screen or use the manual installation details in your order.

Manual details appear only when they were provided for your eSIM.

For “code already used”, first check whether the eSIM is already in the SIM manager. Do not keep scanning it.

Do not delete an installed eSIM without checking. Free reinstallation cannot be guaranteed.

Step by step

If you are not connected yet

Open the matching problem. The most likely cause comes first.

No network

The travel eSIM is usually off or automatic selection has not found a partner network yet.

  1. 1Switch on the travel eSIM and briefly enable airplane mode.
  2. 2Check automatic network selection and data roaming.
  3. 3Restart; then try one listed partner network manually.

eSIM installed, but no internet

The primary SIM is often still selected for mobile data.

  1. 1Select the travel eSIM for mobile data.
  2. 2Enable data roaming only for this eSIM.
  3. 3Compare the APN with the order page and restart.

LTE/5G shows, but pages do not load

Network registration works, but the data session or APN is not ready.

  1. 1Switch mobile data off and on.
  2. 2Pause VPN and private DNS temporarily.
  3. 3Check the APN and toggle airplane mode once.

QR code is rejected

The code is often scanned in the camera app instead of “Add eSIM”.

  1. 1Open “Add eSIM” in the SIM manager.
  2. 2Adjust screen brightness and distance.
  3. 3Use manual installation details if available.

The profile may already have been downloaded.

  1. 1Look for a new or switched-off eSIM in the SIM manager.
  2. 2Do not delete the profile or keep scanning.

It may be off, have another name or the download may not have finished.

  2. 2Check Wi-Fi, restart and install system updates.

Roaming is on, but no connection

The wrong data SIM is usually active or network selection is stuck.

Dual-SIM devices often retain the previous primary line.

Some networks do not apply the access point automatically.

  1. 1Find the APN on the order or eSIM page.

Network operator not found automatically

The device has not selected a supported partner after arrival.

  1. 1Enable airplane mode for 30 seconds.
  2. 2Enable automatic selection again.
  3. 3If needed, manually try a network listed for the plan.

Connection lost after crossing a border

The phone may hold on to the previous country’s network.

Hotspot does not work

Hotspot may be limited by the device, network or plan.

A deleted profile cannot always be installed again automatically.
